Huub Lamers, president of the RAI Association’s cycling division, noted, “After the sales boom during the coronavirus outbreak, the market had to slow down a bit, but overall demand remained at the same level.”
The greater decline in sales compared to sales in the Dutch bicycle market means that the price of bicycle sales in the Netherlands is rising, especially for e-bikes, with an average sales price of 1,815 for bicycles in the Netherlands and 2,574 for e-bikes in 2023, a rise of 3.4%, while e-bikes already account for more than half of all sales in the Dutch bicycle market, followed by city bikes, e-bikes have become an important driving force for the development of the Dutch bicycle market, followed by city bikes and kids’ bikes.
